FRESH IDEAS TO ORGANIZE YOUR GARAGE

2020/21 has been a time to organize all my spaces, which has been very cathartic.  I had to go through all the items on my shelves in the garage.  Some of these were boxes that hadn’t been opened in eight years. 

I began the process by taking down everything off the shelves, then placing like things together, such as all Christmas Decorations. 

The second step was figuring out which items I wanted to donate or recycle (including the cardboard boxes) and sell.

After that I purchased storage bins in the same colour.

Placing some things vertically such as suitcases makes it easier to get to them and know how many you have.

In the process I found old slides and negatives which I had developed.  They were from 1985 so it was a blast to go through them.

Finally, I rearranged the new containers on the shelves and labelled each container with what they contained.

Of course, this was also a great opportunity to clean the shelves and things on them.  I also passed on some Hawaiian pictures to my niece that she could use for her travel business.

It was such an uplifting experience and now I can find things in a snap.
